In case you didn’t have a chance to see or respond earlier this week, please act on this today!
The deadline is in 4 days for CMS to receive your comment letter to prevent cuts to LE revascularization procedures.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has recently proposed significant reimbursement cuts to payment codes for several revascularization procedures. We urgently need your help to ask the agency to protect access to vital revascularization services or risk jeopardizing efforts to reduce lower-limb amputations in Medicare patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD).
The 2019 Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) Proposed Rule cuts reimbursement for revascularization by up to 30 percent or more for critical revascularization codes (37225 – 37231, among others). These cuts stem from CMS’ proposal to update equipment and supply pricing data in the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule database absent accurate data. OEIS – and our coalition partners in the CardioVascular Coalition (CVC) – have valid and serious concerns with the accuracy of CMS’ data for revascularization codes based on a database that completely lacks any current pricing data.
There is still time to act!
We can stop these cuts before they are finalized later this year with your help. We need you to ACT NOW, however. Time is running out.
Please visit the CVC website today to send a letter to CMS opposing the proposed PFS cuts to limb-saving PAD procedures. It should take just a few moments of your time. A suggested message to CMS is available on the CVC website, which you will need to briefly personalize as promoted prior to submitting to CMS. If you are not a physician, you can customize to your experience and interest in this issue. By their policy, CMS must read every one of these letters as long as it is submitted before the deadline of SEPT 10. We are seriously lacking on individual comment letters to CMS. Your voice counts and is vital!
