It continues to be an honor to serve as the President of the Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society (OEIS) this year. I cannot thank you enough for providing this wonderful opportunity to provide leadership to a society of which I’m so passionate about.
I would like to especially thank our Board members and Executive Leadership who, through volunteer contributed time, continue to be a part of our organization’s growth and success.
The OEIS Board of Directors met this summer as part of a two-day retreat in Dallas, TX to discuss many items of importance currently facing OEIS as an organization. We have begun the planning for the upcoming year and are excited about focusing the society’s initiatives to expand the network of OBL’s.
Below are a few key highlight areas discussed during the meeting:
OEIS is recognized as the national leading voice in office based vascular care, partnering with national societies on accreditation, quality and advocacy such as the CardioVascular Coalition (CVC). This year, under the fine leadership of both Dr. Jeff Carr and Dr. Jerry Niedzwicki, OEIS members and leadership were a part of the 15,000 comments submitted to CMS regarding proposed changes in Medicare billing codes.
This joint coalition effort has gained OEIS a “seat at the table” in meetings with CMS and congressional representatives in terms of advocacy on behalf of our members and colleagues in the field. Many thanks again to the tireless efforts of both Dr. Jeff Carr and Dr. Jerry Niedzwicki. Thanks in great part to these fine efforts, our advocacy mission continues to ensure appropriate and stable compensation to preserve patient access to outpatient care. We believe that multi-specialty participation and joint collaborations is crucial to promoting safe, appropriate and accessible outpatient care.
It’s important to think of your OEIS membership as an insurance policy for your success, innovation, and quality patient outcomes. It is therefore important to ask your colleagues and team in your OBL’s to join OEIS. In the days and weeks ahead, we will ask you to help us identify these colleagues to join OEIS. In conjunction with the membership committee, we will supply you with support materials to streamline and welcome these contacts.
Our Membership Committee, led by Dr. Dan Gorin, is working hard on a strong retention and recruitment plan for new members. The Board of Directors will also spearhead this process and reach out to colleagues to join.
Thanks to Dr. Bob Tahara, OEIS’s new website is the #1 marketing asset. It’s the first-place potential members learn about our society. New features within this new platform will allow for members to stay engaged through “Call for Action” newsletters as well as provide a valuable peer-to-peer community.
The OEIS 6th Annual Meeting is set for April 5-6, 2019 in St. Petersburg, FL at The Vinoy Renaissance Resort & Golf Spa. Under the leadership of Dr. Bret Wiechman, our annual meeting continues to grow and develop new strategies put into place including keynote speakers, valuable information for new OBL practices and discounts when registering early. We are adding additional tracks for hospital and office-based practitioners.
We are adding additional efforts to increase our Industry Partners support in areas like Pharma. The 2019 Prospectus will be ready for distribution by mid-October. An online portal will also be available to facilitate sponsors and exhibitors to sign up to participate at our annual meeting.
Special thanks to all the outstanding work that has been provided over the years by Dr. Jeff Carr. We also look forward and are sincerely appreciative for the new leadership of both Dr. Joel Rainwater and Dr. Craig Walker on this critically important committee.
In the coming weeks, we will provide more information on new and enhanced programs and benefits. I have no doubt that with our network of highly-engaged members, leadership and industry partners, that we will have yet another successful year ahead. I also invite you to participate and become involved with OEIS to ensure your expectations are being met.
From myself, our Board of Directors, Executive Leadership, volunteer committees and management, we thank you for your continued membership and support. We promise to maintain your expectations and continue to be the leading voice in our industry.
