Regarding CMS Final Rule of the 2022 Physician Fee Schedule
The Outpatient Endovascular & Interventional Society (OEIS) is disappointed in the CMS Final Rule of the 2022 Physician Fee Schedule. The Final Rule, announced yesterday, indicates on average, an approximately 11.5% cut to peripheral vascular intervention reimbursement in the non-hospital setting.
Physicians with expertise in peripheral vascular intervention who practice in this environment may not be able to maintain a viable practice, particularly in the setting of a prolonged recovery from global COVID pandemic, and therefore may have to close their doors, limiting access to care for patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and critical limb ischemia (CLI). This has significant potential to result in poorer clinical outcomes for this high-risk population with regards to amputation rates.
OEIS is the voice for physicians working in the OBL/ASC space and is working with the Cardiovascular Coalition (CVC) and other medical societies to raise awareness in Washington, DC of the impact of these potentially catastrophic cuts.
